Regional Workshop on Energy Efficiency Initiatives and Data Collection

ECREEE in collaboration with African Energy Commission (AFREC) and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ), is organizing a regional workshop for information Sharing, training, and data collection on sustainable energy, with a special focus on energy efficiency. The workshop is scheduled to take place from the 24^th to 28^th of June in Cotonou, Republic of Benin. The workshop is within the framework of our regional initiatives related to the ECOWAS Renewable Energy (RE) and Energy Efficiency (EE) Observatory (ECOWREX) and the Annual Progress Report on Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency in West Africa.

The main objectives of the workshop are:

1. Share the various Energy Efficiency initiatives (Industry, Building, Lighting and Appliance, Standards and Labelling, High-Performance Distribution, e-Mobility, Clean Cooking, Certification) implemented by ECREEE and its Partners.
2. Ensure training and data collection for the years 2020, 2021, and 2022 on Energy Efficiency in synergy with the African Energy Commission (AFREC).
3. Present the plan for improvement of the ECOWREX platform and validate the process of drawing up the Annual Report 2023 on the progress made in the fields of RE and EE.

Over 50 participants are expected at this important event, including the Energy Data Focal Points of ECREEE and AFREC from the member states, representatives of the Energy Directorates of ECOWAS Commission and WAEMU Commission, partners and other key actors.
