19 March 2025 – The United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO), in cooperation with three Sustainable Energy Centre (EACREEE/East African Community, ECREEE/Economic Community of West African States and SACREEE/Southern African Development Community) and its partner organisations, organized the first regional Project Steering Committee Meeting of the “Energy Efficiency for Sustainable Livelihoods in Africa” (EELA) – Regional on 19 March 2025, virtually.
The project has officially started on the 1st of January 2025 for 5 years and is funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida). The EELA Program seeks to promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth through integrated energy efficiency interventions. It focuses on transforming markets towards high-performing, affordable, and energy-efficient appliances, increasing energy efficiency investments in the industrial sector, and promoting sustainable local value chains for energy-efficient products and services.
As a reminder, the validation workshop of the Market Study and Intervention Strategy for the ECOWAS region for EELA Project was organized the 27 November 2024 in Abidjan (Cote d’Ivoire) during ESEF 2024.
