The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE), represented by its Executive Director, Mr. Francis Sempore, and the Seconded Technical Advisor from AECID to ECREEE, Ms. Vanesa Martos, paid a working visit to the Canary Foundation for External Action (FUCAEX) on February 9th, 2023, in Praia, to explore future collaboration opportunities. This visit is in the framework of the ECREEE’s strategy to engage and foster partnerships to promote sustainable energy in the ECOWAS region.
FUCAEX is a public foundation of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands, established in October 2008. It is a non-profit organization, and its foundational purpose is the promotion and support of activities, actions, and programs aimed at strengthening the presence of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands abroad and the promotion of its interests around the world, especially in those States with which it maintains special links and ties for historical, cultural, economic or similar reasons.
During the meeting, the Executive Director of ECREEE expressed his willingness to collaborate with FUCAEX for the development of new renewable energy projects not only in Cabo Verde and Macaronesia, where actors from the Spanish archipelago are currently very active, but also in other countries of ECOWAS region.
