Praia – 10th October 2023 – The ECOWAS Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) and the International Energy Agency Solar Heating and Cooling Program (IEA SHC), in collaboration with the Center for Renewable Energy and Industrial Maintenance (CERMI), have launched a two-day specialized training for professionals on Solar Thermal Energy with a Special Focus on Large Scale Solar Water Heating and Solar Cooling.
This training is organized in the framework of ECREEE’s Solar Thermal Capacity Building and Demonstration (SOLTRAIN) sub-program and will take place at CERMI from October 10th to 11th.
The SOLTRAIN aims to contribute to the transition from a fossil fuel-based energy supply system to a sustainable energy supply system through solar thermal energy. The activities of SOTRAIN included training, the demonstration project, market studies, awareness-raising activities, and participation in programs of the Solar Heating & Cooling Program (SHC) of the International Energy Agency.
The main purpose of this training is to provide professionals with the skills and knowledge necessary to design, install, operate, and maintain solar thermal energy systems efficiently.
The opening ceremony was marked by interventions from Mr. Gilson Correia, President of CERMI, Mr. Kouakou Alexis Kouassi, Director of Operations of ECREEE, and Werner Weiss member of the IEA SHC Executive Committee.
