Praia, February 18, 2025 – The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) welcomed a delegation from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to discuss ongoing and future collaborative efforts aimed at promoting sustainable development in West Africa. The delegation included M. Takashi Okuyama, Regional Advisor in charge of Cabo Verde, and Ms. Caroline Diouf, Program Officer from JICA Senegal-West Africa Regional Hub.
As a reminder, ECREEE is a beneficiary of the JICA Knowledge Co-Creation Program (KCCP). The KCCP is a technical cooperation program designed to address development challenges by offering specialized training in Japan to officials from developing countries. The approved training courses, aligned with ECREEE’s mandate, focused on “Energy Transition” and “Stabilizing Power Systems to Introduce Various Kinds of Renewable Energy.”
To improve the impact of these trainings for sustainable energy development in West Africa, ECREEE aims at developing an initiative titled: Regional R&D Collaboration for Clean Energy Transition in West Africa.
