ECOWAS REGIONAL WORKSHOP ON VALIDATION DIRECTIVE FRAMEWORK AND TRAINING ON ENERGY EFFICIENCY IN BUILDINGS

The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) will organize, from 9 – 12  of June, 9:00 am, at the Hotel Praia Mar, Cabo Verde, a Regional Workshop to validate the directive framework of ECOWAS, as well as training focusing on energy efficiency in buildings.

This Workshop is being organized as part of SEEA-WA project funded by the European Union and implemented under the initiative of ECOWAS Energy Efficiency in Buildings. The aim is to implement secure and affordable energy services, and promote the development and implementation of energy efficiency standards in buildings across the ECOWAS region. The Workshop will focus on the principles of tropical architecture in order to improve the energy situation in buildings and their adaptation to the climatic conditions of West Africa. The Workshop will provide the forum for discussion and exchange of experiences on energy efficiency in buildings.

This event is part of a coherent and coordinated process in which ECREEE will engage different institutions in a common effort, aiming to achieve the goals of ECOWAS Initiative for Energy Efficiency in Buildings which is to provide inter-alia a regional framework for integrating energy efficiency in construction, regulatory frameworks, architecture of buildings and sustainable construction practices. The Directors of the Ministries of Energy and Housing will be present as well as the Chairman of the Chamber of the Architects of ECOWAS.
