Praia, March 28, 2025 – The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energies and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) welcomed a delegation from WASCAL (West African Science Service Center on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use) led by its Executive Director, Prof. Emmanuel RAMDE.

During the discussions, the Executive Director of ECREEE, Francis SEMPORE and his team presented the progress that had been made in the field of renewable energies in West Africa in general, with a focus on the development of Green Hydrogen.

It is worth recalling that the ECOWAS region has adopted a Regional Policy and Strategy Framework on Green Hydrogen, together with a Regional Strategy and Regional Action Plans 2023-2030 and 2031-2025, with the support of WASCAL.

ECREEE and WASCAL have confirmed their interest in strengthening their collaboration with priority actions relating to the development of national green hydrogen action plans for the benefit of West African countries.
