ECREEE at the 7th Committee Meeting of GN-SEC

Gaborone, 28^th February 2025, ECREEE represented by Hyacinth Elayo, Program Officer, participated in thet 7^th Committee Meeting of the Global Network of Regional Sustainable Energy Centres (GN-SEC) held on 28^th February 2025 in Gaborone, Botswana. The special GN-SEC conference segment discussed the role of regional and intra-regional cooperation to accelerate the transition towards renewables and energy efficiency in the Global South.

This meeting was organized as part of the SADC Sustainable Energy Week, which took place from 24 to 28 February 2024 in Gaborone, Botswana. The event, themed ‘Accelerating Sustainable Energy Solutions for an Energy Secure SADC Region’, was co-hosted by the Government of Botswana’s Ministry of Minerals and Energy (MME) and the SADC Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (SACREEE). It aimed to catalyze the adoption of sustainable energy practices across the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region by fostering collaboration and innovation among key stakeholders.  The event also featured the participation of the Global Network of Regional Sustainable Energy Centres (GN-SEC).

A flagship event was organized in partnership with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), the SOLTRAIN Programme and with financial support of the Austrian Development Agency (ADA). The event also featured the 6^th International Off-grid Renewable Energy Conference (IOREC) and the 8^th SOLTRAIN Regional Conference.
