ECREEE – Praia, October 21st, 2021, A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) and representative of the Program – Policy Dialogue and Knowledge Management on low Emissions Development Strategies (DIAPOL-CE). The DIAPOL-CE is a regional project implemented by GIZ GmbH on behalf of the German Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety contributing to the concretization of long-term low emission and adaptation strategies as well as to the expansion of renewable energies and increase of energy efficiency in the MENA region and Sub-Sahara Africa.
The project is an intervention of its “Green Banking Africa” project in financing trainings for decision-makers in the financial sector within the renewable energy and energy efficiency field. These trainings will enable financial institutions to better assess renewable energy project proposals, including business plans and technology concepts.
The main objective of this MoU is to specify the commitments and roles of both parties for the involvement of up to 75 participants from ECOWAS Member States for a virtual 12-week training for decision-makers of financial institutions and renewable energy project developers (Green Banking), so as to improve and diversify the offer and conditions of commercial financial products for renewable energy projects in West Africa.
