The Prime Minister of Cape Verde Dr. Jose Maria Neves led an entourage of government ministers to pay a working visit to ECREEE Secretariat on Thursday, November 14th, 2013. The government delegation was composed by: Mr. Antero Veiga, Minister for Environment, Housing and Spatial Planning; Mr. Humberto Brito, Minister for Energy, Tourism and Economy; Ms. Sara Lopes, Minister for Infrastructure and Maritime Economy and Mr. Jorge Borges, Minister for External Relations.
On behalf of Mr. Mahama Kappiah – Executive Director of ECREEE, Mr. Bah F. M. Saho – Senior Renewable Energy Expert, welcomed the Prime Minister and expressed how honoured and privileged the ECREEE Secretariat was to receive the Head of Government and his delegation.
To honour the prime minister’s visit a short presentation was delivered showcasing ECREEE’s activities. The presentation also highlighted renewable energy and energy efficiency projects carried out in Cape Verde.
In his speech, His Excellency the Prime Minister noted that, the government is counting on ECREEE to continue with the good work of promoting the development of Renewables in the region, highlighting that the Cape Verdean government has a very ambitious goal, which is to reach 100% penetration of renewable energy. He thanked everyone for the opportunity to meet on the work that the Centre has been promoting and reiterated that, the government has great interest in the sector of renewable energy.
In his closing remarks, Mr. Saho expressed ECREEE’s appreciation to the government of Cape Verde for the continued support since the centers establishment. He concluded by pledging the commitment and availability of ECREEE to the Government of Cape Verde and the Region to achieve the mandate of the Centre.
