PRE-ESEF WORKSHOP SOPHIA

ECREEE in Partnership with the EU and Endev, will be hosting the SOPHIA workshop ahead of ESEF 2024, bringing together experts, stakeholders, civil society, academics, research institutions and innovators to discuss cutting-edge advancements in solar refrigeration and clean cooling technologies in the ECOWAS region. The project is financed by the European Commission. IFF is taking the opportunity to participle to the ECOWAS Sustainable Energy Forum (ESEF) and present the SoPhiA project.

Building on the impactful discussions initiated at ESEF 2023 in Praia, on the challenges of sustainable cooling systems in sub-Saharan Africa, leading to engaging discussions on the issue of cooling and energy efficiency, the event will be a great opportunity for the partners of SophiA from Africa and Europe to meet and discuss the progress of the project. Topics will include lessons from demonstration projects, enhancing regulatory frameworks, challenges of preserving sensitive and perishable products (agri-food, health, medical) and leveraging financial mechanisms from the Paris Agreement to promote innovation and reduce cooling emissions by 68% by 2050.  The presentations includes initiatives and projects, such as AGRICOOL, ROCA, ECOFRIDGES and CRYOSOLAR.

With over 50 participants expected, at the workshop is set to drive collaboration and innovation for sustainable energy solutions across Africa
